I'm looking for following factors in the amplifier:
Price < $3K
Preferable 7.1 but will be fine with 5.1
Perfect sonic quality for Music and Movies

You cannot go wrong with the Emotiva MPS-2.

Usually, $1700, it is currently on sale for $1529 till April 12th since Emotiva is having a 10% off marked price "Spring Sale".

Unless it only works when it wants to like mine did....

I would look into Parasound, Rotel or even at Wyred for Sound-(if you want to look into D-class amps)

What do you mean by "when it want to" ?

I had Parasound A21 and I just sold it last weekend, I absolutely loved it. The only reason I sold it was I wanted to have 5/7 channel amplifier.

So far my preference are following (of'course monitoring audiogon for reasonable price):
Anthem
Krell
McIntosh
Meridian
Arcam
NAD

My MPS-1 always had troubles from day one and was sent back a few times and never properly fixed. I am one of the few on here that had EMO issues that never got resolved and I will never buy anything from them again.

Got a nice little Rotel 1095 and love it.

Mulester is selling his Earthquake 300watts x 5 amp for under $1000. It is used, but a steal.

Hi,
WAF approved (Pretty looking)
Parasound A52
Bryston 9B SST
Rotel RMB-1075
Outlaw 7500

EMOs have their unique looks so they may or may not be a problem in terrms of WAF, just be careful.

If Mac or Bryston are im your budget, build QC is top notch. And the glass face plate and blue back light on the macs should get plenty of waf. You can get the same performance out of many others but from someone that owns Mac, they last.
