I have these speakers, run on a pioneer vsx-1015tx. I think i need more power, but you tell me :

Rti8 front
Fxi3 surround
RTi4 surround back
CSi5 center
PSW505 sub

Any suggestions for a well matched amp to this 7.1 speaker setup?

step 1: get a better sub and go a little higher on the crossover (but no higher than 80). the more low-end load you can take off the mains, the better the receiver will perform in general.

Step 2: still not happy ?
invest in a separate amp to drive the L-R, or even better, L-C-R speakers

the receiver is not an issue.... it's a solid choice. you can tweak rather than trash. :D

something as simple as this could help

or this:

or a stack of these:

or as much as you want to spend.

Amp for pioneer

I don't think the pre-amp stage of your pioneer is worthy of a $1500 amp. You should consider a pro-amp like the $180 Behrenger A500 to drive the mains. Spend the rest on a new sub, DVD player, speaker upgrade, room treatments, etc.

If you are set on spending $1500 on an amp, consider getting the Emotiva MPS1 with 3 channels. You can add additional mono or stereo amps down the road in the 4 remaining slots.

I agree with jcPanny. I'd say just get a stereo amp (the A500 isn't a bad idea) and you should be fine. The rest of the speakers aren't going to be a tough load for that guy, but the 8s probably are. Then put those funds toward a better sub. I think the preamp section of that receiver is pretty good, but I'd also have to agree that a $1500 amp is sort of out of its league.

You really can't beat the price and quality of an Adcom. I'd get a 2ch Adcom and use the receiver to power the rest. There is no reason to spend $1500 on an amp when it isn't going to sound any different than a $500 unit (and it's not because of your preamp). I would even look into used. I believe there is a Proton D1200 on e-bay right now, that would work well. I have had mine for 23 and 12 years each, the only thing that I have changed are the lightbulbs!

ahhhh i worded it wrong... i meant a new reciever in place of the one i have to properly power everything. I still have 2 weeks to return the pioneer no questions asked. I do like the sound of getting a stereo amp though and letting the pioneer do the rest... LOL i guess it sounded funny saying i had 1500 to spend on an amp... for a 500$ reciever.... I was thinking going denon or perhaps better, but im a noooooooooooob whado-i-know!
