Subwoofer

I have a down-firing active subwoofer on my current set up and I want to put up another subwoofer but it is front-firing active subwoofer.

Is it ok to use a down-firing and a front-firing active subwoofer at the same time ? Or should I also use a down-firing active subwoofer if I would like a second subwoofer on my current set up.

I read one of the veterans here mention that it's not a good idea to mix subs. I just ordered a 2nd down firing sub myself. It's the exact same model as the 1st and I'm sure it'll sound great.
