Subwoofer setup issues

Hey guys, I just got my A3-300 from eD yesterday, and I'm having 2 slight issues, one of which I fixed but I want to make sure it's ok.

First, I hooked up the RCA from the subwoofer pre-amp out on my receiver to the LFE input on the sub amp, then hooked up power, fired it on, and what do you know, the dreaded hum coming from the subwoofer. I then plugged the amp cord into a 3 to 2 outlet converter, eliminating the ground plug, and woo-lah, no more hum. So, is that ok to do, am I risking damaging anything??

Then second, the amp is supposed to utilize an auto-on feature, so it's supposed to turn on and off as my receiver does right? Well, it just stays on all the time. Perhaps I didn't wait long enough, but I waited about 5 minutes after shutting everything down and the green light was still on on the back. Any help there would be much appreciated.

I'm still re-arranging things and tweaking the settings, so I'll give my thoughts in a little, but my initial impression is wow! Honestly, I'll admit it, it's almost overkill (not that it's possible but you know). Haha, I'm not saying that's a bad thing, I just wasn't sure what to expect and let me tell you, this thing rocks!! I've now learned which closet doors in the house will need adjusted, as they tend to literally shake during explosions and such.. Anyhow, good stuff..

Well, last night I shut everything down and when I woke up, the amp was off so I guess that's a good sign. I guess I thought the amp would instantaneously shut off when the rest of the system shut off, but I guess it takes a little time. Anyone else experience this with one of eD's amps?

I have an A5-350 which takes just under a half hour to go into standby, that's how it's designed to work :)

The question about the three prong to two eliminating the ground is also ok to do as many members here would suggest doing so anyhow..
