subwoofer setup choices

I currently have my subwoofers setup as follows:
DD-18 up front EQ'd flat
Axiom EP500 nearfield as couch shaker (this of course, creates mountain ranges on my frequency response)
I like the setup because I like the couch shaking effect, but I feel that having a mountainous response defeats the purpose of the DD.

at first I thought it was the added SPL that's shaking my couch, so I tried upping the volume on the DD and turning off the axiom, still no couch shaking.
current volume is 30, I upped it to 50 but the ceiling and lights couldnt take it anymore.

so here are my options:
1) set fronts to large, put the DD-18 into that mix by using the built in crossover ... DD-18 acts as the low end of the fronts.

2) move the DD-18 nearfield to where the axiom is ... (i have to get confirmation from you guys first before doing this because it's just not easy to move the DD by myself) and stop using the axiom.

anymore advice? short of getting another DD?

Ummmmm strategically placed butt kickers? If all you are looking for is to shake the couch....

haha ... I have two choices with regards to buttkickers ...
buy the cheaper US 110v version and use a transformer (amazon 349USD - but will have to wait a year or two to get it)
buy the locally available 220v but at a cost of 800USD (the local distributor is an AH - and I dont mean AudioHolic)

of course my other options require no more money

Placement is probably a little less of an issue with the DD-18, so nearfield probably isn't a bad idea with it, since you can just re-SMS it. You could always tweak the curve a bit manually to get a little more rumble, but I've demoed the DD-15 and it doesn't give the same room shaking that my Tempest does (though my Tempest is not as clean as the DD-15). How about putting the EP500 right behind the couch?

yeah, nothing beats ported subs for HT boom.
I don't have the space behind the couch ... though it does a good job of shaking the couch from the side.

i'm still kicking myself for not ordering the buttkicker from amazon while my brother was there just last week.
