Subwoofer Rattle...

Hello!

I got a ASW675 B&W sub that is working *great* since B&W sent me my replacement amplifier. I've been able to run it for 12hrs+ no problems.

However, this sub is SOOOOO powerful it feels like at time it want's to jump off my floor! This causes some 'creaking' kinda sounds (very driving it fairly hard) BUT if I were to place some weight on the top of the cabinent, thus preventing it flying off the floor it sounds great...

Have any of you come across this? right now I got a stack of 3"+ text books stacked on it....

Also I'm using the rubber feet and not the spiked feet...

Any help would be great :)

I got this issue before with my Axiom EP500. There is nothing wrong with the sub. You just needs to turn down the volume a little bit, and/or move the sub around to appropriate place.

Where is this sound emanating from? Maybe you have some resonating surfaces someplace that needs attention. :D

Yep, I experienced the same thing with a Klipsch 12inch sub I demoed once. That sub was almost jumping up and down the showroom floor (almost). Had to turn the volume, and all was peace and quiet, except for that rumbling bass...

Thanks for that guys, I've toned it down a little, infact I'm back on EQ A. I had it earlier on EQ B which according to B&W gives a greater bass extension coupled with a tighter bass...

Now that I've got it pretty much tuned in (i.e. sub doesn't drown everything else but isn't drowned out either - just spot on) some heavy sub demoing tracks manage to rattle my windows haha!
