subwoofer problems

just purchased sonny sa-w2500 subwoofer and installed it to my pioneer av receiver vsx-523 w audio connecting cord and no sound,power lite is green,power save off,level to max,cut off freq at 200hz ,phase to normal and still no sound. can any one help me out

Welcome to the forum! The Pioneer won't know to send a signal to the sub unless you set it up to do that. Have you gone into the menu on the Pioneer and set it up to use a sub, or just rerun MCACC?
