are there any specific rules/guidelines for placing subs? I keep seeing varying opinions on this topic...but most posts center around where in the room to put a sub. just wondered if anyone had any further insight on the following: (sorry if any seem stupid...also sorry for any spelling mistakes. ;) )

1. what is the minimal acceptable distance between a port and a wall?
2. minimal distance between a passive radiator and a wall?
3. nearness of large objects to the sub (for instance would putting a sub in a corner with a fabric chair in front of it limit the bass?)
4. does the distance between a solid side of a sub and the wall matter, beyond not touching the wall?
5. i read somewhere that placing a sub in a corner eaquadistant from both walls would cause problems (competing reflections or something like that) ... is that truth or myth?

I think there was something more...but i'm too tired to remember.
