Spiders are living in my Subwoofer

Excuse my somewhat creapy Thread tittle, but lately i've become aware that quite a few spiders live inside my Logitech Z2300 subwoofer system.

How cool is that!? anyway, they seem to like having 200watts of thundering bass shot through them 4-5hours a day. Although they seem to get along just fine, i dont. Have anyone ever encountered this before, and are there any specific music they might not like?!

I thought of just taking the vacumcleaner and sucking them out, but came to think, that's no good for the woofer itself, i might damage it that way.

It should be said that they live in the "airintake" as in, the actual cabinet of the woofer..

Any help will be greatly appreciated!

They will likely just move on in time if they don't have a good food supply there. I personally wouldn't want to kill them unless you can identify them as one of the few types of spiders that can be harmful to humans - like black widows or brown recluse.

they where quite large, though less than an inch in total (legs and all) :)

I have Wolf spiders in my backyard. The big ones are about an inch or more long and brown with black diamonds on their backs. They look menacing but are harmless. Unlike most spiders, they do not spin webs to catch their prey - they run them down. Cool as hell to watch!

Spiders are good - they keep the bug population down. Yours will move on in no time. You could just take a paper towel and wiggle it around so they run and then just scoop them up and throw them outside...

Spiders only live for 8 months to a year, so why cut their life short unless they are the potentially harmful type?

Just in time for halloween !!! If they spiders are that big - they must be getting food someplace... makes me think of the old commercial with the young child feeding the vcr oatmeal...

Don't forget the Funnel Web.

I say leave em, they're not doing anything. I heard that a certain nut produces a smell that causes spiders to go away (friend who HATES spiders). I can't remember what it's called. It's the brown one, that falls on the ground and has a sorta tanish colored spot. Someone help me out here...

Wish I knew Sheep, never heard of a nut that drives away spiders (though I don't doubt it).

Can you tell that I like spiders? I've spent a little time learning to identify them because we certainly have more than a few species here in Texas. I don't think we have funnel web spiders here but we do have Brown Recluse and Black Widows. They die if I ever see one - but haven't yet - knock on wood. The Wolf and Jumping Spiders are harmless and I don't kill them. I captured one of the jumpers just the other day and escorted him outside. They spin a thread as they jump, kinda like a rock climber repelling (sp?) down a wall. Kinda cool in my opinion although not as cool as the Wolf spiders that run down their prey like a cat.

If you have spiders, you don't have bugs and that is a win-win for me.

Not so fast, leaving them there could be potentially bad. They are going to leave webs (too late for that though), but what if they decide the sub is where they would like to nest and make hundreds of little problems that will grow into bigger problems. Even a harmless spider could be quite pesky in population. I would personally take the sub apart and move the spiders outdoors.

I have heard, though not personally verified, that spiders do NOT like cedar. I have heard of people rubbing cedar branches on their walls and such. The odor supposedly keeps them out. Cedar smells pretty good to me though. :)

chestnut!!!

It's a chestnut. She has them in the corners of her room, and there is NO spider webs, anywhere.

I don't know how well it works, but theres no harm in trying.

Ah-hah! Sounds like an inherrent design flaw (ported subs). There are insect (spider) solutions that can be dabbed on (the port) as a deterrent.
