Can anyone tell me a way to reduce to overwhelming volume of my Velodyne DPS12? I bought the 12" due to a couple peoples suggestions based on the size of my entertainment room. I have found that it is so loud even when I turn it all the way down on my Yamaha receiver that the receiver still can't balance the speakers. I have tried placing it behind the TV (60" projection ) putting it next to the TV, turning it sideways and no matter what it just booms even when I have the overall system volume down. If no one has any suggestions is anyone in the market for a 6 month old subwoofer????

are you connected to the LFE out of the receiver to the "left" input of the sub?
are you splitting the LFE into left and right? (if so, use only the left)

and yes, use the volume buttons on the sub. you need to press many times or press and hold

I have this sub, and it can be tamed.

Turn it down on the front, use the jazz/classical preset. Keep your receiver as high as possible and then use it to fine tune the output. Make sure you use the LFE input, and not the INPUT input.

On top of all the other posts, you could use the calibration feature the receiver may have but you need an spl meter and level match to the other speakers. Radio Shack has an analog spl meter that many use.
