Only one hdmi. It's being used for the monitor.

Any problems with using the usb?
I actually deleted that because I thought in looking back you were going directly to the JBL active speakers from the pc. Or do you have an avr?

Yes the pc is going directly to the speakers. Its just there's no "out" on the speakers.
My bad. There's no out on the sub either.
A usb to rca for the sub work???

Not without a dac in between as usb is digital, rca is analog; otherwise you're stuck with the dac in your computer. What particular cable did you use? I'm wondering if you got the right tip type....be nice to have details on the 3.5mm ports on your computer.

I used 3.5mm to two rca's for the sub. Here's the link. I think it explains why a sub doesn't work. There's no dedicated sub port.

This is what i am using with the 305's. Running thru a PreSonus AudioBox iOne. Sounds great for gaming and most music.

How is the PreSonus wired into this scenario? Is it only an ADC or does it also have a DAC?

I really just used it to give me a simple solution for both speaker and headphone outputs, as well as an external volume control. From the PC via USB to the PreSonus. Balanced outputs to the JBL Sub. Sub to 305's. No DAC.

How does the usb get converted to analog without a dac in play?

The on board DAC on the motherboard? ASRock Z390. Sorry I meant no DAC in the PreSonus.

The problem you are running into @Dude#1279435 is part of why I ditched the idea. That, and cost. This was my thread last year:

The best way to handle this is with a MiniDSP and REW to manage the interaction between the Speakers and Sub. The draw back, IMO, is the complex adapting circus that needs to take place. Oh... and did I comment on the COST already? :)

If you are seriously into this, then yes, it is worth it. You should find a Sub and Speaker Combo that will work well together, and then, frankly, you should spend on a very high end soundcard solution... external, internal... whatever you need to do to solve the problem.

If the audio is usb out of the computer, it's digital, if its analog after your Presonus, its got a dac in play.....or I'm being dense on something :) I blame the whiskey if so :)

Whiskey is never an issue. Haha. As for the conversion... ya got me then. I have no clue other than it works.

It seems to have a dac as part of it, which isn't unusual for such a unit. Now I forgot what the problem/question was about.....that's probably the whiskey :)

Assuming you may be similar to me, I would split that 3.5 jack to L/R. If you have an output from the monitors, you could go from there to the sub. Otherwise you would need to split that 3.5 4-ways, with L/R to the speakers, then L/R to the Sub.
This is one of the reasons why I didn't go this route for my computer. Especially since it wasn't for any critical listening.
If you happen to have a mini-toslink output, you may be able to find a splitting adapter that will do the work for you to some extent:
look what one minute on google and amazon found:
:)
Mini-toslink out to toslink in, then Y each of the outputs for Monitors and Sub.
Is this still an option? Otherwise my best option might be save up for the matching 310. No biggie eiither way. I can always use the sub for my receiver and turntable.

Haven’t followed this thread tightly so you can laugh me off. But I just got a pair of 305’s for my son. I happened to have this but would be easy to find. I just split the signal at the monitor and sent one out to the sub with a 1/4” to rca that I made(readily available though). It did lower the signal to the R monitor, but we just balanced them manually.
I think if you wanted to go from the PC. I’d go 3.5mm splitter, then split again. Run a 3.5 to 1/4 to the monitors. Then 3.5 to rca to the subs.
Btw, I’m very impressed with these. They sound amazing.
Again, I’ve only skimmed this so, if I’m stoopid, I’ll shut up.
