I am looking to up grade my sub woofer...I need to actually. My room is apx 12x12 with 8' ceilings. What would anyone prefer and would love some insight or suggestions.

I will mostly be watching movies....but PS3 and music here and there. My budget is around $250.....is that to low or could I find something good in that range?

You don't need two with a 12x12 room, but for $250 I wouldn't go with two subs, I'd go with one. Yes it is a bit low, but you also don't need a monster sub for a room that size. The thing working against you is the 12x12 aspect, as a squarish room has the most cancellation; two might actually help in that instance, but not necessarily with a budget like that. I might look at the Sub120 from www.partsexpress.com to start with one, and it is currently $155.

$250 is low but I just picked up a "The Speaker Company" T250 for my bedroom and I can tell you it will easily handle a room that size. Even a Velodyne VX-10 will handle it. The VX-10 is a tiny bit sweeter with music but the T250 goes a bunch lower for movies and it has a lot more power. But unlike most subs the T250 needs to be pointed in your general direction.

If your budget is strictly around 250...I would strongly suggest buying prev owned. Just recently a SVS 20-39 powered cylinder went for 250. I have seen PB12 plus go for as low as 500:eek:...that's a steal. Spend your 250 on something that costs double or more and live with the fact that someone else had it before you. Most of my rig is prev owned exc condition...and I am picky. 250 will not get you a new quality sub. And besides, you are not going to be in that same room forever. Food for thought. Good luck.

You could try the Energy ESW. I haven't heard this one, but it's in your range at AudioAdvisor dot com.
