Subwoofer Help

Need help selecting a subwoofer room is 14x14 with 10' ceiling have yamaha rv-x2500 Polk centerCSi5 and Polk RTi6 speakers, view a lot of action movies and also varied music on cd all suggestions greatly appreciated.

I guess the first question should be, "How much do you want to spend?"

There are plenty of choices and there's a huge price range. Between $500 and $1,000 MSRP you can get enough sub to shake the room during any action movie. For starters I'd suggest you visit these sites:

The HSU VTF-3 MK2 or if you're willing to wait the VTF-3HO are quite good.
Also for the money the SVS PB-12 Plus. SVS also offers some "B-stock" deals.

With that size room I would go with one of the two subs the major suggested, but if money is tight the SVS PB10 at ~$450 is the bang for buck winner by a mile.

Nice system! Do you have a sub now?

SVS just came out with new drivers, so take a look at the PB10 and PB12 NSD entry level units, or any of the Plus series. That's a decent size room, so don't skimp on the sub. The /2 series are as big as end tables - and there's practically nothing that sounds as good for the price. If you can swing the size and budget, take a good hard look at the larger boxes.

i never hear anything about the klipsch senergy sub-10 or sub-12 on here... i have the sub-10 and its my first powered sub...but i know what bass sounds like and this thing freaking shakes my couch ..and my setup is in the basement with concrete floor "ofcourse" in a 16'x27' room..does my sub suck? if so i couldnt imagine what a good one sounds like ..lol..You have me beat on the speakers ..i just got some polk R50s and am getting the R15s and currently decideing on with polk center .BTW i managed to get my klipsch sub-10 new from bestbuy for $350.00..but i have heard that that the sub-12 is alot better
