i was on new egg the other day and bought 2 polk audio monitor 60s series 2 or somthing while they where on sale. anyway i have a small room (wait small room tower speakers and a sub i know right) so i want a sub that will go well with it i was looking at the psw but got alot of negativity from some old forum but i am still considering. i wont be getting right away and will be upgrading my whole system in like 4 years so it dosent have to be amazing (like i might put this 2.1 system in my room and get a new one later oh by that i ment i will be moving). Also it has to be powered (dammit yamaha) and i wont be buying right away so if theres like a sub thats a bit pricey but the company is coming out with a new model i will swipe up the deal on new egg later.
thanks for all the help and i do know where the thanks button is;)

You don't say how much money you are willing to pay. If you can afford it, I recommend:

If you can afford to spend more, I would get a higher model from the same company. For less money, I will let others give advice, though it is usually best to save one's money and buy one that is good enough, rather than to buy one and then buy a better one later.

Sure, a new SVS or HSU would be nice but for $250 I would check your local Craigslist. That amount won't go very far on a brand new sub but in the used market you could find something pretty darn nice. I would look for Velodynes etc.. As an owner of a PSW505 I would say from personal experience that they really aren't that great when compared to the competition. I like Polk speakers I just feel their subs are kind of their week link.

The HSU STF-1 often goes on sale at your price point.
