I have the SVS PB12+ and used the Auto MCACC on my Pioneer receiver. The distance for the sub came out a little further than I expected. I checked with a measuring tape.

I have the sub at the front between my center and right speaker, and it sits sideways (SVS owners will probably understand why). How should I caluculate the sub distance from the main listening position? To the Front of sub, middle of sub, or front wall directly behind sub?

I have the PB12-Plus2, and I measure from the center of the top of the box. MY auto calibration always puts the sub at the wrong distance too. So long as you correct any distance variances manually, you should be good to go. And yes...... the mic & measurements should be taken from your primary seating position.

With a sealed sub it's easy, just measure from the center of the driver. With a ported sub it is a different story as it becomes frequency dependent. You'll likely still get best results by using the center of the driver as the port output is much lower in frequency and farther from the crossover point.

Thanks. I'll remeasure to the center of the driver.

I have a Pioneer Elite 74 TXVi and an SVS PB12-Plus/2 sub. After running the MCACC setup the receiver set the sub distance at 14.5'. After reading this thread, I just went and measured the actual distance from the center of the top of the sub to the mic location and it measured 14.5'. The right, center and left from speakers also measured almost exactly the same as the MCACC setup. I'd say it did a pretty good job.
