Hey guys, sort of an extension of a previous thread, but I thought I could get a few more opinions this way (thanks to the advice offered from others). I'm pretty set on investing in a new svs sub, and and down to a dilema between a few of them, and need your advice/opinions.

1. http://www.svsubwoofers.com/subs_pcplus_16-46.htm

2. http://www.svsubwoofers.com/subs_csplus_16-46.htm

3. http://www.svsubwoofers.com/subs_pb12_plus_2.htm

so here is the dilema, money isnt the biggest, issue, but of course cheaper is always better. Is there any difference between the passive and powered subs (1 +2)? Also, would the box sub sound any better than the tube ones? I'm running it through a yahama 557, with a set of Klipsch RB35's as fronts, Klipsch sb-2s as rears, no center channel at the moment. The room is fairly big, about 24*12*8. thanks in advance guys

Have you talked to SVS yet? THey might be able to give you a better answer. If I had to choose, it'd be between the CS and the Plus 2. The plus 2 has two drivers, which is awesome, but the CS is nice because of its hidability, as well as the separate amplifier feature. It's a known fact that amps last longer when they aren't in the sub cabinet.

When Buck and I went and listened at SVS, he liked the PB 2 ultra. I liked the PC + 16-46 the best. I thought it was the most musical sounding unit. Either way you go it's a win-win. The Cylinder subs' design is superior. There is much less chance of the enclosure adding any coloration to the material. As long as there is no WAF problem, I would go with one of the cylinders. As far as the external amp, you would be able to use a class A/B if you so desired. The stock SVS plate amps are class D design.

Might be if your amp to drive it is insufficient for the job ;)
If you can buy theirs.
