Subwoofer db option on avr

Hi

I am currently running a Sony STR-DA5600ES as a sound processor - preout to NAD m25 amp

The Sony has a setting for subwoofer db through hdmi. The options are Auto / 0db / +10db

Not sure which to select ? I've read online multichannel sources are handled incorrectly and most receivers require the subwoofer at 10db however the Sony manual isn't clear what it does on auto and online isn't clear which of these three options is optimal

Appreciate anyone who can help and provide advice on this subject

The manual on page 130 is clear enough....use auto so it can select when to boost pcm signals as necessary depending on the pcm stream....
