I'm 15 and just got a Digital Research Sub-tower for home theater.I plugged the line in rca's(white&red) from the sub-woofer and connected them to a y cable so i can plug it into my Kenwood VR-505 receiver's Sub-woofer Pre-out.When i turn it on the sub just stays in stanby while all my other audio equipment plays(speakers).I connected the sub to my Kenwood audio synthesizer and turn to a radio station and the bass is amazing. Do you know what the issue is?Do i have to connect the synthesizer to the receiver with the sub connected to the synth. any help is appreciated!!

Does one of the RCAs on the subwoofer say LFE in above or next to it? If so you only need to plug a single RCA into that and then into the subwoofer pre-out on the receiver. I can't find the sub you're talking about online, maybe a model number would help.

It's a TR-8000 Digital Series and the sub-woofer says high level out and high level in.

Try high level in to subwoofer preout and see if that works. I'll have to see if I can find your sub online if it doesn't.

"High level" refers to speaker level signals. It doesn't sound like you're using that.

RCA jacks, or "preamp out" levels are what's called "line level" and are much lower than a speaker level signal.
