May sound stupid but I'm new to this. I have Definitive 7006 with have a 8" sub in each tower. I do not have a stand alone subwoofer. I was thinking about running the subs in the tower together into the receiver subwoofer outlet.

My towers have a LFE in inlet. I was wondering do I need to use a RCA cable or would a digital coaxial cable? Also if it is the later I dont know where to find a 2 into 1 splitter for coaxial.

Thanks for the help!

Hi. The two types of cables that you mentioned are the same. They are just cables with RCA connectors on both ends.

Something like this would work just great, as would many other cables. An RCA y-splitter is all you would need to combine the two cables into one input for your receiver.

That's a nice looking cable, Jamie. I imagined using a cable with the opposite type of connectors, though - a single male connector going to two female connectors.

Yes it would. Subwoofer cables fall into the analog audio cable category. The coaxial digital cables are in line with video cable specs which is over kill for analog audio.

Anything you get from these guys is really top notch but not over the top:

You can also explore their site and get a pretty decent education.

I can't find the information, but it would only make sense to me for the speakers to have a LFE pass through. The manufacturer should certainly be aware that you would be running a pair.

Does one use a 75 ohm digital cable or a single regular audio rca for the subwoofer? there are conflicting advice on this topic.

I recommend Bluejeans cable. They also offer Y connectors.

NOTE: There are two types of Y connectors.
1F 2M
1M 2F

Your situation:
If you are going to split the cable at the receiver(subs in different locations), you want the 1M 2F. You would then need two sub cables.

If you are going to split the cable at the subs(subs in same location), you want 1F 2M.

I want to help you out, okay? I'm not prepared to search for conflicting anything. Go back to post #8. Do a little reading. The info is there, all typed out already. There is no conflict.

1) I agree with you that subwoofer cable falls into the audio category.

BUT...the subwoofer cables that BJC carry are of the 75ohm flavor. Which is the reason I meant when there're conflicting info.

I'm afraid I need this spelled out for me. What's wrong with a 75 ohm cable? Who said there was anything wrong with it? I think I missed something. Just for the sake of full disclosure, lots of people here at AH recommend monoprice for cables because they are inexpensive. I like BJC because word on the street is that their quality is as good as it gets and their prices aren't crazy high.

The 1M 2F is more to my liking ... oh, you're talking about cables! Yeah, in that case ... whatever. :D

It's too much work, and there is a good chance the M will be the underdog. I prefer 1F. Just old-school, I guess.;)
