Subwoofer cable length?

Hey guys,

after running all the conduit for my new room and taking some measurements, I have come to the conclusion that my rear sub at the back of the room will need a cable of about 40 feet in length... :(

Will this cause any problems or low signal or what have you? By the way, it unavoidably but perpendicularly crosses two 120 volt romex power runs.... just thought I would mention that if it may be more susceptible to interference or other issues.

I plan on buying the cable from BJC.

No problem

For you application, quad shield RG6 would work well. You could purchase the bulk cable and terminate with compression RCA connections. The length is not an issue and the 90 degree intersection with power lines will prevent interference.

If you order from BlueJeans, they offer a few varieties of quad shielded cable.

we ran a high grade RG6 cable 50' in our main conference room at work to a front room subwoofer with no problems. The suggestion for quad shielded RG6 is a good one to surpress any possible interference in your long run. Try for as much vertical separation as you can get with the 120v AC lines along with your plan to cross at 90 degrees.

good luck
