If possible, I would appreciate it if someone could guide me in the correct direction in chosing which type/brand of subwoofer cable I should purchace.

I will be visiting BestBuy tommorow and I would like to have a so-so understanding, that way, I willl not be relying on the BB workers for all my info.

I may also visit Circuit City, seems like they have a few good deals this week.

First, BB and CC will most likely tell you that the only right cable for your system is a Monster Cable. Of course, they'll also tell you that you need to have the most expensive Monster Cable possible. I personally think Monster Cables look nice and are built relatively well. They're just wwwaaaayyyyy overpriced. I always go and pick out the Acoustic Research brand which is usually located in some dark corner of the store on the hidden level which is only accessed via a sewer drain that plays different music when you exit it. And when you find the BB employees yell at you for not listening to them and their lack of expertise. Not that I'm an expert in this field. But, I did sleep at a Holiday Inn last night...

Anyways, with that all said. I've started only buying video cables for my setups for audio and video:
1) They're rated at 75 ohms
2) Some companies shield video cables better than audio cables - probably not a factor
3) I'm finding them to be cheaper than audio cables when all connections are added together.
4) They both carry an audio (digital) signal and I don't have to worry about what cable I'm using.

If you can wait a few days to finish connecting everything, this is what I would recommend based on price, build, and pure spite of BB and CC Monster Cable pushing.

My current subwoofer cable, RCA-RCA connectionn, is an Acoustic Research video cable. I've been very happy. Good build, looks nice, good price.
I only recently came upon the other cables through any members recommendation.

If the connections are wrong, try this site:

or

I hope this helps.

Thank you, thats helped me a ton. I have heard of AR before but I was not as familiar with it. Now I am quite certain it is a well performing cable.

By the way, what brand do you recomend for speaker wires? AR?

Just wondering
I will probably be out purchacing banana plugs this time because I am tired of sticking the wire directly into the speaker jacks.

Try to avoid buying cables in retail stores...

...Generally, you'll find much better prices online than you will in a store. I use ARII cables purchased from AC4L recommended above. The prices are a fraction of what BB sells them for. There are a lot of other reccomended brands and sites that others use.

BTW, a subwoofer cable is the same as a composite video cable and a digital coax cable. All three are interchangeable. If you find a better price on one type, get that, they are all the same cable, just labled differently.
