Hi, I have a Wharfedale powercube 8,

Frequency Reponse 40 Hz - 170 Hz
Subwoofer Power 100 Watt
Woofer Size 8"

and it really isn´t a good sub, lacks the punch I am looking for in cinema.

Any buying tips for a new subwoofer ?

Thanks

depends on how much you want to spend.. 300 dollars is a good price point, and if you want a step better, you would probobly want to jump up to around 6-700.

Good advice!

I agree. 300 is a start, and if you want a step up, you have to double the money.

Going to need
1.) Budget
2.) Room size
3.) WAF # (whether or not you can have a big one:) )
4.) music/movie %

For $300 shipped, that JBL SP1200 II is a damned good buy.

If you want really tight bass, then you should take a look at one of those Velodyne sealed subs, the SPL, HGS, or even the DD series (if you have the dough).

E-Mail Tom at SVS subwoofers and tell him your room size, openings, kind of listening you do (music & movies), kinds of listening (rock, jazz,). They will recommend a sub for you. They will NOT over sell you. Customer satisfaction is number 1 with SVS. The quality of their subs is unmatched. The subs give good clean, not boomy bass. Their subs will not only meet your expectations, but will exceed them.
