i`m looking for a nonexpansive sub for my homr teather system(marantz sr 4600 reciever and yamaha satilites)
they don`t have in my country the hsu, svs, valodyne ,dayton brands,
i have some offers for warfedale sw 150 diamond and polk audio psw 10, morel, infinity primus 8 ",
iread some reviews about the polk that it fits only small rooms and mayby don`t give the full impact on movies(wich is our main purpose, secondary for music)and the same about the warfedale
there is also the pradigm pdr 8 which is abit expansive then the others and i listen to it and not sure if it powerful enough,
can someone help with experiance/knowledge?
thank you

Mopeer,

Welcome to the forum.

What is the size of your room (feet if possible), and what is your budget in US dollars? BTW, where are you from? Have you demo'd the Yamaha subwoofers yet? They are pretty reasonably priced, and would match your system. Is this one available in your area?

Yamaha YST-SW1500 12" Subwoofer

stay away from the PSW10...i got one free when i bought my mains (came with the deal)....not worth even considering, it starts popping before you get enough bass...just my own experience... a cheap and powerful sub is a Cerwin Vega...cheap and powerful...not real accurate but you get what you pay for....but it should give you the rumble your looking for

the size of the living room(it is conected with the kitchen and dining) is around 28 on 11 feet, but in future the system might be use in a smaller area,
the problem is that in my country(israel)the prices are as twice or more in dollars then in the states, for example the psw 10 which is around 200 $ i think cost here around 600$, the chipest cerwin vega and valodyne are also 600 $,so it is dificult to compare my budget,
the yamaha sw 1500 is in the cataloge i got from the distributor here and it is in top of the list,i`ll check but i`m sure it is very expansive, also it`s 1000 w power!,i tjink it`s too much ,i`m looking for something more humble,
,have someone heard about the infinity primus 8", or the morel, warfedale, jbl 200 (comes as a set but they ofered me as second hand only the sub-the problem it has no freqwency control, btw how critical is this feature?)

Have you considered constructing your own subwoofer(s). Take a look at the Pass Labs DIY site under speakers. At the end of the subwoofer article is what you may be looking for.

this pass labs site is very interesting(i know they make exelent amplifiers)
the thing is they speek only about full range speakers, unless i didn`t find the sub section, second i`m not sure i`ll find the elements in my country,

doe`s somebody heard about or lisened to the warfedale diamond 150 sub,
it won the sub of the year in it`s price range for 2 last years in the british "what hi fi",
since i havn`t found the way to make a defenitive judgment it might be my kind of default choice,i hope it is not a mistake

Go to www.passdiy.com go to speakers and read the pdf on El Pipe-O
In order to make the smaller transmission line subs you need 2 6' lengths of 8" inside diameter Sonotube (concrete construction former), 2 8" woofers with a resonant frequency of 40Hz and a couple of resistors and caps for the passive filters. This is for two subs!

i don`t think i`m going to do it ,first i need it argently, second i need an active sub (with an build in amp).

since i read(and listen myself)things which i don`t like about the polk psw 10,and even 12,doesn`t give the full bas impact filling that i like in movies,
i`m trying to find some opinions about the warfedale sw 150,
