Hi guys,
I am getting the Def tech mythos one front speakers. I would like to get a subwoofer for around $500 - any suggestions? What do you think about the HSU vtf2 mk3 vs. outlaw lfm-1 vs supercube? Any advice on were can I get them at a good price?

Thanks for the help.

For the price, I'd have to say LFM-1 Plus too. Great deal!

The LFM-1 EX is also on sale. I would get that, it will stomp on all the others. It's like buying a VTF3 for less than a VTF2. It's a crazy good deal.

Outlaw it is but which would you reccommend. I mainly watch TV/movies but I am hoping I'll start getting back into music(jazz and soft rock) once I have speakers+ media player. This will be in the living room (16x22 feet). I am thinking of puting it between the coach(where I usually sit) and the wall. That way it is hidden since my wife thinks that you can't make a subwoofer to look ugglier if you try. I want a well balanced sound and to feel the vibrations at times with explosions in movies but not that continuous feeling of my insides vibrating and wondering if the glass is gonna shatter in any moment. I guess what I am saying is does the lfm-1 EX just give more quantity or is it also more quality? and would it be too much

So what do you guys think? I am looking forward to hearing from you and I will buy the subwoofer in the next couple of days.

Thanks again.

I believe these subs were designed for them by Dr. Hsu of HSU Research, so you are more or less getting the equivalent of one of their subs. The EX seems to have a different tune and is a tad larger (allowing it to go deeper and it has 3dB more total output), but appears to be the same driver and amp. You will get more "rumble" with the EX, but I don't think you would be sacrificing any sound quality. I've owned a HSU sub previously (VTF-2) and heard a few others and they sound great.

It's a quality sub, and it will sound great as long as you take the time to dial it in and integrate it with the rest of your system. It won't be overwhelming unless you want it to be.
