Hey All,

I am building my HT system and so far I have Oppo DVD, Samsung TV, Denon AVR 1909 and Klipsch Synergy II speakers. I have a medium sized room and would use it for HT/Music 50:50.

For the subs I have decided on 3 groups based on price ranges. I would appreciate if you guys/gals can suggest the ones if you were to make a choice. Since this is my first HT I am not sure how much should I spend on subs.

There is Dayton sub 120 or Velodyne VX-10 because both fit very well in my price range and I have read they are great entry level subs. (Around $150)

Then there is BIC -100 for $249.

Also in consideration are Cadence CX-12 and ED A2 - 250. (between $275-$350)

Thanks in advance....

Just giving this a bump so see if anyone can help out the OP.

Sorry to say, I don't have any advice between those five subs - except to say to try and buy from a place that will let you return it without a large (or any, if possible) fee. It's best to try them out in your place to see how you like it.

I don't know how the subwoofers you listed sound, but if you go up another $79 dollars from your $350 price point to $429 (plus shipping) you can get into a SVS PB10-NSD, which is the entry level for real subwoofers that can play down to 20Hz. The reviews for this sub are great and I have not seen anything but praise by owners. It is intended for small to medium rooms and if you have a very large room you need to move up the model range a little and none of those cheaper subs will cut it. Call SVS if you have any questions about subwoofers because they have great customer service and will help you out. You might be able to find one of these subs used for a lower price if budget is truly limited. People that buy these subs frequently move up the product line and these sub become available, probably for a good deal.
