Subs for enclosed Salamander rack?

I'm considering adding some subwoofers to my system. My Phase Tech speakers are rated down to 32Hz, but i'd like to fill out the bottom end on certain types of music that calls for it. This is a two channel, music only system so i want something very musical sounding. Not boomy, but more punchy. I'm thinking maybe two smaller subs, like 8 or 10 inch for better room balance. I own a Salamander (quad 30) rack that's about 7 feet wide. My tower speakers flank the outside. I want to put the subs inside the rack behind each end door. The door fronts are perforated steel. They work great for remotes and center channel speakers for HT. I'm not sure how they work for subwoofers. Any recommendations for brands and types of subs for this application?

Ultimately, you can't assume that in your rack is the best location for your subs because that is what visually works. Choose the positioning of the subs based on their performance in your room. Will a sub work inside a rack? Yes. Would I recommend it as a good idea? No. Does that mean you shouldn't try it? No. :) The point being: don't let your furniture determine the subs you buy; buy good subs and work from there.

I have a Salamander rack too. Frosted glass doors (remotes still work fine) and perforated sides.
