Subdude vs Subdude HD

Does anyone know what the difference between the two is? The only difference I can see is that the subdude HD is covered in black velour and costs $10 more.

Yeah, just looks like a nicer cover. It is, after all, their "HomeDesign" version. :)

I actually like that look a lot better than the grey.

I like the look of it too, but if I put my 20-39 PC+ on it, you wouldn't see much of the cover anyways. And the fact that it's cleanable isn't really a selling point, since it's not like I'm going to spill something on it, and I'm sure the velour vacuums up just as well as the charcoal version.

yeah, good thing I'm not a newb... but the great gramma I just got helps out with my ultra, so I'm wondering if I should get one for my plus.

This is a great “Sub-dude” DIY project that practically anyone can do for about $15-25. Use 1/2" MDF for the base which is cut to the size of your sub, wrap it in felt material you can buy from a fabrics store, and place it on something that is not wooden or stiff, i.e. rigid foam, cork material or durable rubber. The "feet" should be about 2" off the floor.

Essentially you are creating a de-coupler to REDUCE, not eliminate bass transference to the floor. Especially wooden floors. Mine looks very nice and I think the bass response is better - tighter. I could care less what my downstairs neighbors think about the sound. The blast their must enough as it is.

Here are some pics of the DIY "de-coupler" I built. I black based rests on the corks squares which are recessed about 2" inside of the base so that you cannot see it. The felt overlap on the underneath of the base is less than 2" to allow the based to rest flat or even on the floor.

I also attached a pic of the base I built to allow my center channel to set under my TV. The "entertainment center" is actually three pieces - two audit piers and a matching TV stand. One day I will buy a really nice TV stand that allows for the center channel to be under the TV and store all my components as well. Like this - http://www.standoutdesigns.com/store/pc/Horizon-N702-Plus-Solid-Wood-TV-Console-p322.htm. My front speakers will then flank the TV/audio stand (spaced out a bit of course).

I would actually like to build the TV/audio stand custom if I can find a woodshop in my area that lets you use their equipment to make it look well thought out and beyond causal DIY. No luck now in my rental and lack of excessive disposable income! :D

You can rent most basic tools from Home Depot, though that doesn't solve the disposable income deal :)
