can somone please tell me why some sub woofeers are designed like the one on this link. http://members.aol.com/ettaylor/subwoofer.htm
(you may need to use copy paist in order for this to work)
On the inside as you can see there are thos two seperated sections. What exacly do they do?
thanks

The writer of the article states that they are merely internal bracing. I suspect he made each unique in order to combat any standing waves, or perhaps for reasons of breaking up airflow.

So then these are not realy needed when Designing a sub woofer right? or would it be better to have them?

thanks

You NEED bracing as you want to eliminate cabinet vibrations. The only thing you want to move or vibrate is the speaker. And you cannot simply put a solid piece of wood across the cabinet as you effectively cut the cabinet in half... So you design bracing to allow air flow.
