i have a radio with a sub and a amp, 2 X 6 / 9s, and 4 orignal car standard door speakers and i want all to work, i have my amp infinity 300,
leads all conected as follows
power lead from battery to amp,
REM lead from amp to main power at the back of the head unit,
and the earth lead conected to my lights at the back of the car to earth it.

my 6/9s are bridged to my standard rear door speakers so my head unit is powering 2 speakers in the front doors + 2 in the rear and now also my 6/9s,

i want my 6/9s powered from my amp so that my amp is powering my 6/9s + a jbl sub 350 watts,

prblem 1/ head unit keeps cutting out as if u pull the power lead out everthings goes dead for a sec then comes back on stright away, some times cuts off stright away and not enough time to even play the song.

2/ i have 3 setting on my amp lp - hp- off now when i use lp i get interference and no bass or very little, same with hp, ok when off.

3/ iv tryed to conect my 6/9s to my amp on a different chanel and when i conect then up the amp cuts off no bass at all, and thats only when i touch with both wires, when i use 1 wire from my 6/9s its ok but 6/9s dont work,

so the questions r why is my head unit cutting out + how do i get my 6/9s to work from an amp with out interfenence what am i doing wrong.

Trying to pull too much from receiver.
Your amp needs to have the power to the battery, ground to the chassis (seat belt bolt works great), and your remote connected to the remote on the receiver.(Not the main power)

You either need another amp, or another receiver.

If you don't plan to spend any money, you need to either ditch the 6x9's or the factory rears. Or they need to be connected in series, not parallel. The amp needs to be used for the sub only if it is a 2 channel amp.

I have tons of car audio in my shop. I have given it up. Let me know if you may want some of it.

Most receivers have more than one RCA out. If you only have one, you need a crossover to seperate the frequency. Also, if you use an RCA out from a receiver for the rear channel, you can't use that channels speaker outs on the receiver.

REM: Remote. This is what turns everything on. Once you turn your receiver on, whatever is conected to the receivers remote lead is also turned on.

I have three Linear Power amps, an Alpine receiver, two Audio Control crossovers, an Audio Controll ESP, an Audio Control Epicenter, some MB Quart seperates, a Kicker Solo-Baric 12, and tons of wiring including the equipment for running an extra battery.

You would be better off going to Circuit City or some other audio shop. The amps I have are sought-after by many in the car audio field and demand a premium price. I woud be glad to make a deal on some of my stuff, but in all honesty, you would be better off getting something new.

Your amp is cutting off b/cuz it is not able to run more than one set of speakers per channel. Imagine running as fast as you can...you can only do it for a short time until you have to stop. unless you get a new receiver with subwoofer and full range rca outs, You will need two amps to run your set up (generally). because you cant get the frequency to both kinds of speakers (subwoofer & full range(6 X 9's)) for now i would decide which you want more...bass or volume. Either way, split the speaker signal from the back of your head unit. and convert to RCA.
If you want bass, run through a cross over allowing only LOW frequencies to pass through and plug into your amp. Then run the speaker wires to the sub.
If you want volume, plug RCA directly into the amp and run the speaker wires to and find a place for your 6 x 9's (replace door 6 x 9's or get a seperate 6 x 9 boxes) and plug in. adjust the amp to match the sound you want and save for the next upgrade....IT WILL NEVER END.

Were I you, I would go to Circuit city or some car audio shop and ask a bunch of questions. You will learn a lot. keep your ears open and decide what you want now...next...and so on. they will be able to explain it better with the products in front of you and you can SEE how it works. better than trying to imagine and ask questions on the internet.

My car ended with an accident where I lost almost everything:( At the time of its death... It had 6 12's (soundstream referance) 4 amps (soundstream) and a total of 28 drivers (various upgrades throughout the car). loudest thing you can imagine. it literally blew the rear window off the track on a Toyota 4 Runner.

As I stated earlier in this thread, you are trying to get too much out of the equipment you have. If you want to add more speakers, you can't just hook them up to where another speaker is. That changes the ohm load. It gets quiet technical. The best advise is to go to Circuit City & see your best options for what you want to achieve. They will be glad to help at no charge. Then, as time goes on, move on up to a high-end audio shop if you catch the bug.;)
