Hi all,
I have some 5.1 speakers connected to my computer which I use with 2 seperate settings within the computers audio controller (VIA HD Audio Deck).
1. Using the digital SPDIF optical out for listening to music in stereo.
2. Using the analog 3.5mm jacks to phono sockets for playing games in 5.1 surround sound.
When using the analog 5.1 outputs the subwoofer volume is much lower than when using the digital stereo output. To compensate for this I have set the analog 5.1 bass boost option to maximum (+12dB) which seems to work and sound fine. However, I am concerned that having the bass boost set to maximum could be clipping/distorting the sub woofers signal.
I know what a clipped signal sounds like with mid/high frequencys but can you hear it the same with bass frequencys?
