Sub wiring connections

I have a powered sub and have 1 question---should I use 1 sub cable or the y-adapter it came with? I've tried both options and cannot decide if there is a difference or if I care. I guess I'm wondering, is there a difference and what are ya'll doing?

If you use the Y adapter to feed both left and right inputs the sub will sum them to mono. Using a Y adapter doubles the voltage which will result in a slight increase in volume (which you can also accomplish by turning up the volume on the sub).

One reason to go for the Y adapter approach is that because the sub gets a slightly stronger signal, its Auto-On capability may work more reliably; other than that there is no reason to use the Y adapter approach.

thanks for the response---I've been playing with both ways all week and cannot notice anything too special. There is a slight volume difference, but not much...

When you are listening to something, if it doesn't shut off during quiet passages, then it probably doesn't matter if you have input going to both or not.
