I would like some advice on how to hook up multiple subs to my system.

I'm putting together my home theatre and would like to use multiple subs in addition to the main sub. The subs would consist of 14 separate 8-inch drivers. They would be mounted individually behind and beneath each of the 7 seats for maximum LFE.

Those mounted behind the seats would be ported and enclosed individually as would those mounted in the platform floor beneath each seat.

How many amps would I need and how would I hook them up to my Yamaha RX-V2500 receiver?

Are there any significant problems that I might encounter with having that many subs in an 11ft wide by 23 ft long by 7 ft high room?

Any thoughts?

Instead of using so many subwoofers, why don't you try using some LFE butkickers and similar products? These are specifically designed to create the effect you desire and have much smaller power requirements.

Here are some links:

The reviews for my receiver suggest staying away from 4 ohm loads (which is what the Butt Kickers are rated for). If I were the connect a bunch of these in series, wouldn't they damage my receiver?

I'd say use an external amplifier for them. The first two shakers have pretty low requirements for power, so you could power them with a Sonance Amp, found here. The 1250MKII or 1230 would provide enough power for every channel and then some. These are great amps, but anothter solid multichannel amp should work.

For the ButtKickers, they have a 400 watt MINIMUM power input, so your reciever isn't going to run them. They sell their own amps that can run two Buttkickers though. As for prices on the buttkickers and amps, I really don't know what they run.

Did some looking, the 1230 sells for around $1k online. As for wiring, if you wire the shakers in series, the resistance adds, so if you wire two in series, the amp will see a resistance of 8 ohms. If you wire in parallel, the resistance is halved, so 2 in parallel would be 2 ohms.
