I always had my recievers sub output level set to 0. When I bought the behringer it said to play a movie with loud bass and adjust the recievers output level until the LED lights on the EQ get up to the yellow or red (clip point). I put in master and commander and adjusted as needed.
I ended up turning up the recievers output level to +6.5 then turned my SVS gain down to about less than 1/3. It has concerned me that I turned it up to +6.5. Any thoughts on this?

There's no problem with that. Did you "Play the source at the maximum level you would listen to it", which could make a difference if you play the system at higher levels.

Thats what I did once I set up my BFD. Recently I wondered if clipping on the BFD input display corresponds with clipping levels in the receiver.

How do you know if you are pushing the receiver sub out into clipping?

when i watched master and commander i set the output level so that the LEDs were in the yellow and occasionaly in the red. At the volume we watch movies at i have not even seen it come close to clipping.
