is it better to have two subs that go to 30 hertz or one sub that goes to 25 hertz?

Jamie,
The reason for having two subs is not related to lowest available frequency, but rather it normally is to either increase the available bass sound volume due to the large size of a given room, or providing a more even bass reponse across multiple seating positions (reduce bass nulls).
IMHO having one higher quality sub is preferable to having two lower quality subs for about the same cost.

OK thanks. That's what I was thinking. Looking to get the sw112b klipsch. It seems like the best sub in my budget of 500 or less. I'm in Canada and can get it for 399 on sale sometimes. The PB2000 svs would be my number 1 choice but at $1199 it's too pricey. In saying that I'm not sure if it would be worth saving and down the road go with the svs. I have all klipsch now and love them. My theater room is pretty small at about 15 by 10 feet and I have a 10inch velodyne vx11 and find its lacking with the rest of my gear. So Hoping going to the sw112d with match it up better.

I'd save for the SVS or similar. HSU has Canadian distributors as far as I know so they may be easier to get there and will provide good performance as well. VTF-2 or VTF-3. The Klipsch will not be an improvement IMO and you will end up going SVS, HSU, etc... eventually.

You can also try playing around with placement of the Velo as in a smaller room, placement can make a huge difference.

Ya I did that with the placement and in the corner works the best. Thanks for your help guys. There's 7hzs different in my sub now and the klipsch. You don't think I would notice a difference with a 7hz gain from 33hzs to 26hzs? I know with the svs going to 17hz from 33hzs I would forsure.

In the bottom octave, you will definitely notice a difference in a sub that honestly extends deeper. 33 vs 26 will depend on the subs in question's capabilities, but when you get to a sub that can really handle 20Hz and below, you'll definitely notice a difference. The Klipsch will probably perform adequately, but I don't really believe it will compare with the SVS.

Two subs that go to 30HZ.

"If we consider that the sound of bass in a room is dominated by the room itself -not the subs - then the sound of a sub or subs themselves is really kind of insignificant. What matters is how the sub or subs interface with the room. The more subs there are the better this will happen. They can't be junk subs however as that just doesn't make sense, but "competent" subs are fine and should work better than one "mega-sub" if properly setup. This last factor not being trivial."[Dr. Earl Geddes]

Key there being the "junk" subs comment. Two lesser subs will not equal one better quality sub, it will just sound louder and possibly more even when properly configured, but the sound quality and extension will be exactly the same. Between 30Hz and 26Hz extension the two Velos might be slightly better than the Klipsch, but a better sub will be better than either of those options period.

OK, I will accept your argument here.
