I have a Reel i think its a rlw10 or something like that. Anyway it has al the speaker line outs on it. But it also has a red/white input for the sub. I dont want to misconnect the sub. How do I connect it. I see alot of sub cable out there but it is only 1 rca plug. Since there is two on the sub should i be using two on my amp? there are 3 areas to plug a sub in my reciever. I have a Yammie HTR-5740S Im sure it has one powered and one signal out. The Sub is powered so i dont want to use the powered line out but which and how many of the jacks in my yammie shouldi be connecting to the red/white on my sub?

You need to use the one on the receiver that is marked 'sub pre-out'. It may be labeled slightly differently like 'sub line-out' or 'lfe out'. Whichever one is the non-powered line-level output.

You can connect to either the L or R input of the sub. Your manual may have a preference and specifically state L (most often the case), but it really doesn't matter as the subwoofer signal is mono.

Alternatively you can get a Y connector to connect the single RCA jack from the sub cable to both the L and R inputs on the sub. Doing so gives you a slight volume boost but is not necessary - the sub will sum the L&R to mono anyway.

Remember, the "Y" connector may boost the volume slightly, it won't make the sub any more powerful, or ultimately louder overall.
