Sub for Swan D1080MKII

Bought this 2.0 system few months ago and it's great. Saved up a little (~$150-180) money for a sub. I understand the Dayton sub-120 is a pretty popular choice? It also has a low level output that I can use to pair with my Swans. Does the sub have to have the RCA type low level output for them to be compatible with the Swans? Sorry for my ignorance, electronics isn't really my forte, I just like music.

Some other names of subs I've heard of are BIC F12, PA-120...

Are they compatible with my 2.0?

My room they'll be in is about 20x20, 3 hard walls with an opening into my kitchen.

I only have an ipod so I'll be running them straight off a 3.5mm->RCA adapter

Any help appreciated guys!
