Sub for my new room.

I am new to the forum and I have been doing some reading about selecting the right sub for my setup in my basement. I just moved in the home and I have large room in the basement that I put my TV and stereo equipment in. I know my stuff is old but I like it and would like to try and find a descent Subwoofer to work with it.. I would like to list what I have and see what you guys would recommend.
First the room is in my basement and it is finished with sheetrock and bookshelves. The room is 33' x 23' with 8' ceiling.
The receiver is an old Sony STR DA5ES and I plan to keep her. For my front speakers I have old Klipsch KLF-20's with the center channel speaker that went with them. I need to get my two back speakers after i get the Sub....
My Budget is around $600 and i would like to to use her to watch movies and be able to listen to music. I look forward to reading your responses. I know I can not afford a real nice one but i hope to get something that will work and be a quality unit?

I could stretch $650, just have to see how much shipping would run. I am very happy with the Sony and she has served me well. If she is still working well, why replace her?

Thanks

The VTF-2 is under $600 so it might fit the bill better with shipping, but the LFM-1 EX is effectively an older version of the VTF-3. I think you'd have to stretch the budget quite a bit more to get to the next level of sub IMO, and these should do the job just fine.

When I started looking this is the one I really wanted but by the time i had her shipped she was way out of my price range.....

VTF-15H Subwoofer

Do they ever have sales on these units or ship them for free??

Yes, the do have holiday sales that are pretty good, but the best deals are usually at the end of the year. For your room, that's more along the lines of what I'd really recommend (and that's what I meant by the next level), but yeah, a lot more expensive. There's this guy too: http://www.powersoundaudio.com/collections/power-x/products/xv15 shipping included.

The VTF-15H will run me close to $1020 shipped to me. Is there any others out there that perform close to the VTF-15H and are quality units, that are cheaper?

DYI is always a better value for your money... if you can run tools and a tape measure. for 600, you can do fairly well, and there are lots of plans and "how-to" available.
you can also go with a "kit" sub.
