Sub for around $200

I asked a week ago about subs.... After some consideration I was set on getting the Mirage S10 for $250. by the time i finnally made my decision the S10 is out of stock, and from what they tell me they won't be coming back....
now I'm back where i started....
is the S8 a good sub for $200? or would the Velo DLP3500 be better for the same price? I was also looking at the Infinity PS-10 for $250. I heard the Inifinty 12 inch which i thought was good but is more than i really need. I heard the Velo VRP1000 which i thought was decent, however, i don't know how that would have compared to the others. It seems that it is very difficult by me to find subs or speakers to demo. Any thoughts? Circuit city and bestbuy don't have great setups , half the stuf is disconnected. I can't seem to find any independant audio stores that sell speakers. Mostly around here it seems they're just custom installers.

I'm looking to add some bass to my system and some for the HT setup, but I don't listen at really high volume nor have i had a subwoofer before, so almost anything is an improvement.

If these are really just bad compromises due to size, I would consider teh 12 inch Mirage.... but only as a last resort as i started out thinking i was going to spend $150.

thanks

Other considerations for a budget sub (under 250.00)
Cadence X-Sub
Acoustech H100
JBL E250P

The only one of those that you may be able to test local - is the JBL.
However, please know that if you listen to this in a 10,000 SQ Ft store (ala Best Buy = Overpriced Buy), you will not really be hearing what it can do for you in your living room.
I have had 2 of those 3 listed.
For budget subs, I can easily recommend them.

If you want to step up big-time from a budget sub.
There is someone listed over in the deals section for a PB-10.
However, this may really be stretching your budget (it is 300.00 and not including shipping)
(Please note: this is also if it is still available)

Another one to ponder

I may get laughed out of here, but I would recommend the Sony sa-wx700
two 10" woofers, 250 watt amp. CC has it for 219 online (at least they did--seems like it has been this price for a while vs. the retail price listed--299)

Just got one before Christmas and the thing goes low. Haven't had a lot of time to compare music vs. movie, but for HT it is an awesome sub. It replaced a sa-w40 that was water damaged (front push button was completely rotted, and cabinet had mold growth, sucks because woofer and amp were still intact).

The 40 had some great reviews and w/ just a couple mods it was even better. I haven't seen anyone mod the 700 yet, maybe it doesn't need it.

Good luck w/ the decision.

Theres a Velodyne DPS-10, and DLSR-3500R.

The DPS-10 should be cheaper then the 3500, and perform better. Much better. It can reach 105dB Anechoic, and extend well down to 25Hz.

I myself shall be receiving the DPS-12

I believe your best bet is going to be the cadence X-sub. Other than that I would save up a few more bucks and get an SVS PB-10, it would really be worth it.
