sub dilema, axiom and svs

Hey guys, I need some advice so here is my situation:

Im a college student at Notre Dame, and was given a sub for christmas. Because it makes alot more sense to ship it to school, they basically just gave me a voucher for it, and I can spend 1200 on it pre-shipping. I had all but made up my mind on the SVS Pb12+/2 but have sort of been reconsidering. The room is large, about 12 x 24, but the room it will be in next year will be smaller. About 70/30 movies/music. The thing is that the year after next, im done with school, and will most likely be moving into an apartment, so that got me to thinking that I should gte a sub that is easier to move, which I highly doubt the +2 would be. So what do you guys think, do you think it would be better to go with the ep500? How much of a difference would there be between the two in movies and in music? I appreciate the advice, thanks guys

I have the PB12/ISD2 and it is not small nor light nor subtle.

I certainly would not like to live below or above you in an apartment.

It sounds like you may be better off with a compact sub. How about one of the smaller compact digital Velodynes?

The Plus/2 is IMO the best sub you can buy for ~$1200, but ONLY IF size isn't an issue. I can sympathize where you're coming from.

The EP500 isn't small by any means, but a lot smaller than the Plus/2. Did you consider the 16" diameter PC/Ultra cylinder?

agreed with buck, the SVS cylinders may be bulky ... but they are lighter than the other options!

Does not matter. Subwoofers don't have to match.

The Digital Velodyne's are smaller, but the EP500 would be a great sub for the $.

I say go for the Plus/2 if that's what you like now. You're a young strong guy with buddies......moving a sub once every few years wouldn't be on my priority list of "what sub to purchase".:) Also, just turn the volume down when you get into an apartment.

GO IRISH!!! What a GREAT Rose Bowl game!

id rather have the plus/2 but if i was in an apartment id get an ep500.

plus/2 is huge.. and the extra sound couldnt even be utilized in an apartment.

Why don't you just get 2 PB10's? That is going to be more than enough to take care of your needs for the next 5-7 years based on your stated expectations. By that time, some new technology will be out that will be better, and you can buy that.
