Sub connection problem

New Yamaha RX-V765 receiver. New Epik Empire subwoofer. Made connection to sub per manual using RCA cable. Nothing. Receiver does not even acknowledge the sub being connected. RCA cable is new also. Any ideas where to go from here?

Sub needs to be enabled via receiver menu. Has this been done?

Yes, the sub was turned on. Supposedly, Yamaha has an automatic mode for setup. It recognized all the other speakers, though they were connected with speaker cables. The receiver has an "advanced setup". I'll try that.
