has anyone used RG6 cable for a sub cable? It's a lot cheaper if you gotta make long runs for your sub. If it's good enough for a HD signal it should handle a sub

Hi. Yep, and you can buy them commercially, too. Here's one example from Monoprice. They have them up to 100 feet for under $20.

RG6 has been used by thousands of integrators/installers for long audio runs and subwoofer cabling for a long time- it works just fine and if you want or can find it, RG59 works as well but it's not available in Quad Shield.

Don't overthink cabling, even when people tell you that something else is much better.

Lots of different cables meet the very old generic RG6 classification. They are optimized for different applications. The common Quad Shield is optimized for cable TV channel frequencies, not what we want for a sub-woofer. Fro any long (well over 10 feet/3 meters) RCA coax cable, the most important factor is low end-to-end resistance of the shield/return.
