Is there a generally agreed upon method for properly breaking in a new sub?

Pink noise? Test tones? Duration? Everyone seems to have an opinion but how much does it actually matter?

Wanna break it in.... throw some spirited material at that sucker and crank it up !!!!

The voice coil in a driver will heat up pretty quickly, and the surround becoming more compliant should happen rather rapidly as well - so that is about as much break in you need, and your off to the races. It is very unlikely that you will notice any change in sound with the small amount of time these items will take to happen.

If you waste your time with the urban legends, myths, you are wasting valuable viewing time and enjoyment from the start:D
