It struck me last year when I was toying around with extending the sub bass frequency response when experimenting with carpet tubing placed over the (air duct port).

This time I used a different approach with a small piece of plastic tubing about 7” long and 4” in diameter. To hold it secure over the (air duct port) and to prevent any damage to the cosmetic look of the Eltax R-12 A I used silicon to hold the tube down.

Has you can see it takes around 30 minutes for it to dry off and thou I could easily remove it without any damage what so ever, if it sticks to your fingers it washes off without fuss!

I repositioned the sub bass extension afterwards into a different location. The overall result was an impressive (6db boost):D and lesser noise from the air duct port at the lowest frequency when playing hard!

Well the "night fox" is going on a mission for 50 minutes I’m going cardboard carpet hunting! That’s right its dark and its free and it’s only 20 minutes walking there and back to grab a few long tubes.

See you in a jiffy.:D

Wow my legs are sore. Anyway “night fox” mission time is 1hr 57m 34s and only managed to find a 30” tube with a diameter of 4” that’s good enough for the experiment.

I’ll have some “night fox” pictures in an hour.

Well looks like the diameter of the tube is the same as the other tube 4” damn!

I’ll go down the road in the morning to a carpet shop which is only 900 yards up the road, looks like the other carpet shop over at Winton has closed down so no carpet tubing to find outside near the bins. The inside of the shop still had some carpet tubes and about 5 months of letters on the floor.

What is the smaller sub?

Success I managed to get hold of a nice carpet tube and it fits like a glove.

I’ll fire up the home cinema and test the sub bass extension before I attach the tube, and then I’ll see what happens when I place the 6 foot tube over the 7” tube that is already doing a grand job.

I’ll have pictures to following later on as I conduct the test.

That looks hilarious, that made my morning. I have tried doing similar things with a few subs in the past, sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't, it's hit and miss.

Hmmm....smacks just a little bit of HSU Turbo. It shouldn't gain you any output, but it should give you some extension AFAIK. You are also effectively changing the tuning point of the cabinet.

You don't really know anything about speaker design do you?

So if I don’t know about loudspeaker enclosure design me and an old friend designed a JBL sub bass enclosure that performs with abyssal depths of unrelenting SPL when called for in LFE.1:D

I only trust with what shows up on the SPL and RTA if I can see a difference with one or there other I will go with it rather than touching one of those other subs you know the ones we can’t speak about, shhh!:D

Besides +6db increase is good enough for me, for today and didn’t cost a penny.

Thank you if adding a little comic relief adds to making a few laugh then, that’s a good thing a little experimental enjoyment to discover what would work and what well not work in the room doesn’t hurt.

I have designed a really crazy idea around 2 years ago but so far it hasn’t seen the light of day so far.

This again well involve carpet tubes going around the room in a hoarse shoe shape configuration with two sub bass loudspeakers that would be sealed. I wish I could get that project done and there might be some failures with it, its all about trails and errors just like the (Manhattan project) only there will be no involvement of splitting of the atom here. :D

Well when that system does go up in flames due to all the gear hooked up, at least it will have a smokestack to properly vent.
