My formerly rocking home built sub quit working at a highly inappropriate time, mainly to show a Bose owner what rocking bass really sounds like

I hooked the sub directly to the left channel output and it works

I hooked the left channel wire to the speaker input of the amp and it does not work.

Can I assume it's the sub amp since the speaker doesn't work with either low level input or speaker level input?

Recommendations for replacement amp? Do I put in another plate amp or is there a better idea?

Phil

Well, a standalone amp (like a PA amp) will be separated from the vibration and heat of the enclosure. Of course, when you remove the plate amp, you change the parameters of the box and then you might not have a driver installed with the optimal T/S parameters that it initially had for the enclosure.

If you can't get the same plate amp, you can leave that one in there, and just hook it up to the external amp.

Who's the mfg? I'd send the amp to them and let them fix it. It will be much cheaper than buying a new one off www.partexpress.com.
don't know. Bought it off ebay over two years ago, but it is marked with cruus, and s200pth.
