IIRC, The Outlaw is designed by HSU. Go ahead and get it.

Moved to subwoofer forum.;) I agree with JG, outlaw seems like the logical choice.

Any advantages or disadvantages to performance / sound downfiring vs. forward firing?

The outlaw due to it has more power than the HSU?

Not much difference in the two...some say front firing are better because it doesn't matter if you have carpet or hardwood whereas an exposed down firing sub like my old HSU VTF3 were intended for carpet.

Ok Matt I was just reading same thing you were about forward vs. down. Seems that it doesnt matter much...
So what going to perform better the higher watts from the outlaw would be logical
Or ar maybe just btter quality from the HSU?

Don't worry about the power. Its like speakers - some are more efficient than others and anyway 300 vs 500 watts isn't much difference. The Outlaw is on sale RIGHT NOW for $467. I'd be all over that if I needed a sub.

I was asking the same question earlier yesterday see my post http://forums.audioholics.com/forums/showthread.php?t=60025

From the original recomendation by FirstReflection and then MatthewB. I figured I'd stay with the SVS, but after reading your thread I still have reservations, however the SVS has a heck of a lot of reviews from independent sources and on these forums along with AVSforums so even with the price difference I still believe it is the better choice. Now if it were a larger difference in price I would have to say the Outlaw or HSU would be the better choice. I personally would go Outlaw over HSU. For me, its only a 75.00 spread between the SVS & Outlaw, Either way I think all three are pretty good subs in my/our price range.
