Hi

I have 2 subs running in my HT using a splitter. Both switches are on 0 rather than 180. The HT guys whom set up my sisters have her one sub on 180.
What is the best setting or is it a case of trying each to see what sounds best to me? Should they both be on same or does having one on 0 and the other on 180 have any advantage?
Cheers

Edit. .....and don't tell me the difference is 180 degrees lol :-D

Hi, Moonlight. You're talking about phase, right? That affects the timing of the subs relative to the main speakers. Typically, I'd say try each and decide which sounds better to you, as the "proper" setting dependings on your room and the placement of the subs.

Which receiver (or processor) are you using with these? That might already account for it. My new Pioneer Elite VSX-23 has Phase Control that adjusts the subwoofer signal so that I don't have to worry about it.

Thanks Adam

Yeah phase.
I'm using an Onkyo TX SR503 7.1 atm but will be swapping it around for my
Onkyo TX-SR574 7.1 when repaired.
The Jensen D260 subs are sitting just behind each Wharfedale front.
It's a bit of a Hybrid setup but sounds good to me.
I haven't noticed any phase control in the settings.
Cheers

I have just purchased a Denon AVR 2105 on eBay. Will receive it next week. Comes with a mic for setup and has a phono input so I can play my vinyl. Looking forward to this :)

If the subs are on the same end of the room as each other and the mains, they should have the same phase.

They are at the same end. One poster said that by running 2 subs or perhaps because they were connected using a splitter into the one sub input, that they would tend to cancel one-another out. It does sound like they do this as the combined volume doesn't sound as loud as when only using the one? I prefer the two, as the bass sounds smoother and more balanced using the 2 subs...well.. to my untrained ears anyway...obviously it is all in my head. Am I just imagining this?...as I am only playing it by ear :-D
