It won't hurt anything.
Unlike regular speakers, a subwoofer doesn't need to be timbre matched with the other speakers in the room. It just needs to pick up where the main speakers leave off. Even average bookshelf speakers should have no problem reaching down to 80 Hz where the receiver crossover should be set. Most lesser quality subs just won't be able produce extreme low bass cleanly or with enough dB.
You might even find out when you get your other sub back from repairs that you'd like to have two subs in the room.
