I don't know about it but if you cannot find anything on them, stay away. Even if you did, be careful with the off brand lables. Just because it is expensive does not give immunity from being bogus rip off speakers ;)

I believe Digital Reseach is the same as Theatre Research, the infamous white van company discussed in several threads here. Prices may not always be directly proportional to quality but this stuff seems way too good to be true.

yes,i/omagic has a web site and they do build lots of computer parts, dvd burners,cd rom, etc.i have seen these spkrs in magazines but i dont remember which one,and the web site doesnt list any home audio products, but they do exist. it is puzzling.i talked to a dealer and he also has not heard of them, but when i described them he said that the system sounds a lot like some yamaha products they sell..maybe they are a copy cat or it is something new and upcomming.

The websites that I found are not related to home audio. Was not able to find a reference to the company on any of the other boards. Was not able to find those model numbers being listed by any audio dealer.

In all, not a very positive search. Which may be a confirmation of the "white van" theory.

Take a look at the thumbnailed pix near the bottom of the page. You can clearly see the name Theatre Research on the boxes. The item description says Digital Research.

I'd be interested in hearing these to make up my own mind, but not if I have spend my money.

Just looks like a real shady deal to me.

Checked out the ebay site. Selling on an auction site is automatically suspect in my book, as so much illegal, used, scams, salvage, rebuild etc is sold via those sites. This vendor pretty much confirms my feelings. His/her entire business is built around this one brand of products, absolutely no other products are sold. It appears that he/she is working out of his/her living room by the pictures that are posted. He/she claims to have to travel 300 miles to pickup the speakers (reputable firms actually do not have "go get" their products). He/she claims to be using a 26' truck, and "sells so many of them" that sometime he/she is out of stock. The scam hairs on the back of my neck are standing straight up. His/her auction rating is very misleading as most of the posters are actually people from whom he/she has purchased stuff from. I am more interested in reading the negative posts, as they are actually more revealing about a business than a bunch of "positive" posts.

(By the way, I never buy from somebody that does not have a large number of negative posts.... I don't want to be scammed, I want to see how the vendor handles their problems when they occur, and what kinds of problems customers have with that vendor. No negatives means the postives are absolutely worthless as nobody is perfect)

Like I said, my scam hairs are really twitching on this one.

Really sounds like a drop shipping deal. While not necessarily a scam, Ebay sellers often have sources of goods that will allow them to run the add and have the actual dealer/seller do the shipping. Often the goods sold are old, refurbed or made under liscence and branded for them. Often the stuff is very cheaply made and almost impossible to get service for. Again, they may be on the up and up, but I see a red flag when some Ebay store is selling electronics that I can find no references to on google.

More than likely you could get something similar at Wally World for 1/2 the money. If it were me I'd pass and look for a more mainstream vendor. If you can get it real cheap it might be worth it just for a goof, but I advise you to steer clear.
