Stuck With Multi-Channel Display

Hey Gang,

Well I'm a bit confused here I have tried everything I could think of but for some reason I can't get the AVR to display DTS- MA or True-HD with the BDP S570. I have it connected via HDMI and I'm still getting Multi-Channel on the front of the AVR is there something I'm missing here? I have gone through both menus and options on both the AVR and BDP.

Any suggestions will be appreciated,

Thank You

Tony.

Weird. Some receivers can't display logos, is that possibly the case here? You didn't specifically state it, but of course I assume you chose the codecs on the BDs too (and after all most BDs with DTSMA are simply defaulted to that codec, often without any other choice).

I know with many Marantz models of old, they couldn't accept these bitstreams while applying Audyssey or perhaps some other postprocessing like matrixing, due to a lack of processing power. Do you have Audyssey engaged, and if so, what happens when you defeat it?

You have a straight up 5.1 system I presume (not that it gives me many hints at all, but I dunno).

The S570 is relatively current with FW, or at least not on original OTB FW? Hmrz.

No other audio connections between receiver and BDP, and there wasn't any other before either, only the single HDMI the entire time?

Is this a specific disk or all disks? Check disk setup menu for proper audio format. Sony, Pg 23, make sure Audio HDMI is AUTO & maybe BD Audio MIX Setting - OFF.

That's correct I have the one HDMI running from the 570 to the Denon 1910, in the menu options of BDP they give you to choices for HDMI audio Auto and PCM I chose Auto. AFAIK the 1910 should decode all the latest codecs. AVrat I'll look into that and see but yes it happens on all discs both Blu-ray and DVD's.

Update:

AVRat that was on the money turning it off allowed for the display to read DTS-MA and True HD and the HD Audio logo now shines blue.

Thanks Josten and AVRat for helping me troubleshoot here.

The BD Audio MIX Setting shouldn't even be allowed unless the Audio is set to PCM. Seemed to be a conflict to me. Glad it's working.
