Hello board....got a set of Front dunlavy SCIII's paird with a Dunlavy SC-I AV Center channel...all driven by an Outlaw 1050 Receiver...

Sound during movies are great, but from a cable signal, the "S's" in dialog are really strong...what could be causing this as well as how can i compensate??

This may seem counterintuitive, but sometimes when you hear a lot of sibilance (S sounds) in dialog (almost to the point of a lisping sound), it is actually due to the absence of the higher frequency "fricative" sounds that provide the attack transients.

Is there any reason to suspect that the audio from your cable system has rolled-off high-frequencies?

How is your cable box connected to the Outlaw AVR? If its via analog connectors, try using the digital connection (which I assume you're using for your DVD player).

If the sound improves, Its a matter of poor components in the cable box and using the digital connector has solved the problem. you're good to go. If sound remains bad, its an issue with the cable companies audio output, in which case you may want to consider switching to satellite.
